Biography
My professional experience has been in the field of education and instructional technology. I am currently the Associate Director for Elementary STEM Education for the Office of STEM Engagement at Rice University. Our department offers professional development in the areas of science content, leadership, and pedagogy as well as supporting and/or implementing K-12 initiatives for the science and engineering colleges. I previously worked as a Course Review Consultant for the Texas Virtual School Network. I oversaw the submission of courses for review, the review process, and course reviewers. I developed and delivered training via face to face and online. Created new policies and materials for staff and TxVSN. Compiled and delivered reports and data requests to the Texas Education Agency. In K-12 education, I taught both primary (2nd grade) and intermediate (3rd grade) for Spring Branch ISD along with serving as the campus technology representative and on various campus/district committees. While working for SBISD, I also had two non teaching positions. I was a District Instructional Technology Specialist and a School Improvement Specialist in the areas of math, science, and technology. My duties as a technology specialist included training teachers on various software applications. Assisting in the coordination of technology conferences and symposiums. Developing technology integrated curriculum for elementary education and helping campuses in technology integration. As a School Improvement Specialist I modeled lessons for teachers, planned with teachers, and co-taught in their rooms. I also pulled intervention groups in the area of math. I have run an after school science camp by obtaining grant funds to cover expenses and practicing project management and budget control. I have presented professional development in the areas of math, science, district initiatives, and technology.
