Biography
Pat has been doing research in STEM education and issues of race/ethnicity and gender for many years. Formerly an associate professor at Georgia State University. She has authored more than 100 publications including Engagement, Capacity and Continuity: A Trilogy for Student Success, Upping the Numbers: Using Research-Based Decision Making to Increase Diversity, and What Do We Know?: Seeking Effective Math and Science Education. Her best known publication is The AAUW Report: How Schools Shortchange Girls, which she coauthored. She is currently most proud of www.BeyondRigor.org, which provides easy to use tips to improve the quality of evaluations and research done with diverse populations. Her professional activities are varied including conducting professional development in South Africa and Uganda and being an expert witness in the Citadel sex discrimination case.
