    Hi Jack--
If you haven't already, you can check our resources. A quick search turned up these lessons: https://www.linkengineering.org/Explore/Resources.aspx?resource-type=54_309&q=Efficiency&grade-level-s-=38_248.
You can also head over to TeachEngineering.org which is a repository for Engineering lesson plans, which you may already be familiar with: https://www.teachengineering.org/curriculum/browse?q=energy+Efficiency they have filters that you can use for grade level and time commitment.
CEEMS (Cincinnati Engineering Enhanced Math and Science Program) has a number of lesson plans developed with the University and classroom educators that is definitely worth checking out: http://www.ceas3.uc.edu/ceems/. For instance this unit on designing energy efficient houses: http://ceas.uc.edu/special_programs/ceems/CEEMS_Pathways/SIT/CEEMS_InstructionalMaterials/ScienceUnits/mouse-trap-mania11.html
    Good luck!
