Biography
Nancy Ruzycki is Faculty Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Laboratories within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Florida. In addition to her Ph.D. and M.S. in Physics, and B.S. in Chemistry and Education, Nancy worked professionally as an Instructional Specialist at Florida Department of Education for the Race to The Top Grant. She has 25 years in education, National Board Certification in Physics, as well as state certifications in Florida, Louisiana and Washington. She is trained in Modeling Physics Instruction, is an APS Physics Education Research Group member, and 2018 Gordon Conference in Physics Education Research chair. Ruzycki created after-school STEM programs for under-served youth, and continues to develop PK12 curriculum. Ruzycki develops engineering curriculum using research based best practices, and conducts research into how instructional methods support student learning. She is active in American Association of Engineering Education, and is K12 Program Chair. She has worked as a content consultant for the Lastinger Center for Learning at the University of Florida Ruzycki is an NSF PI [1,2] conducting research on creation of rubrics to measure critical thinking of students during engineering classroom activities. She works with researchers across departments on K12 engineering outreach. At the annual ASEE conference (2015), she was second author on best paper in Educational Research and Methods Division. 1.
