The first step to getting involved in the LinkEngineering is to build your profile. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to start interacting with the community. Throughout the LinkEngineering site you will find places to submit questions and answers, add comments, and post updates. Jump in and contribute.
The Ask a Question form allows you to submit ask a question of the community or to specific person. When you start typing in your question, the form will expand to allow you to add additional details. When you submit a question to the LinkEngineering site, it will appear in several places: your profile, the community feed, the Q&A section, and, if appropriate, on the specific page where it was asked.
There are 3 places where you can ask questions:
To answer a question, you must first click on the question. This will take you to the question page, which not only includes all the previously submitted answers, but also the Answer form. When you submit your answer, it will be added to the page and your profile.
It is usually best to compose (and proofread) your answer offline and then cut and paste it into the answer form. Once you have submitted an answer there is no way to edit it. If you really need to change your answer, you can contact the LinkEngineering staff.
The Question of the Week feature is a special section where LinkEngineering staff post thought-provoking questions to the whole community. This is a great place to start participating!
Comments are a fabulous way to engage with other members about resources, blog posts. interviews, and articles. Go to any resource page and below the content you will see a comments tab. Click on the tab to see other members’ comments and submit your own.
Like the question form, when you start typing in the title of your comment, the comment form will expand to display a second box where you can put the full text of your comment. It usually works best to compose your comment offline and cut and paste the full text into the form.
Your comments will not only appear on the resource page, but will also appear on your profile.
If you have an announcement you would like to share with the community, you can post it from your profile. Click on the “Share an Update” button, below the tabs, and a simple form will appear. Type or copy and paste your update into the field and click Post.
Your update will appear on your profile under Latest Updates and will also appear in the community feed.
