Main Interests
Lisa Hunter has served in education for over 13 years. She has taught at four different campuses in the Texarkana Independent School District in Texarkana, Texas allowing her the opportunity to work with a vast array of students. In 2007, Mrs. Hunter was selected to be a part of the original educators at Martha and Josh Morriss Mathematics & Engineering Elementary School. She worked with a team of teachers to develop the engineering curriculum prior to the school opening. She has served there as the curriculum coach and classroom teacher. While at Morriss, she has taught first, third and fourth grade engineering and first through fifth grade mathematics. Mrs. Hunter has facilitated a self-contained classroom as well as a departmentalized setting. She is passionate about developing thought processes necessary to produce critical thinking STEM students. Mrs. Hunter received her B.S. in Elementary Education, graduating Cum Laude, and her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University – Texarkana. In addition to being certified to teach elementary education, she is a certified Special Education Teacher for PreK -12 and a Master Mathematics Teacher for EC-4.
