Marie Messina Posted Monday, February 26, 2018 at 7:17 AM Bridges Tensile & Compressive forces We added this inquiry activity to our unit this year and I do think it helped understand both the different types of bridges, but more about how there needs to be a balance of tension and compression in order for bridges to work. The suspension bridge was hard with the strings, but I went around to each group to show the tension part with the longer string by me pulling on one end and a student pulling on the other end instead of the book abutments and it worked well. Thanks for the activity!
