Boston University's STEEP: Engineers complete their BS in engineering and Masters of Arts in Teaching in five years and are ready to teach secondary S T E and M. PostedSeptember 24, 2015 UpdatedSeptember 24, 2015 Posted byDr. Gretchen Fougere http://www.bu.edu/eng/academics/special-programs/steep/ The STEM Educator Engineer Program (STEEP) was launched in fall 2012 and creates secondary math and science teachers who regularly and authentically bring engineering into their classrooms and provides sustained inspiration AND preparation of our next generation of innovators. Through the College of Engineering and School of Education, engineering majors complete both their BS and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and are ready to teach math, science, or physics in 44 states. Undergraduates, such as the Inspiration Ambassadors, can explore education careers with three years of training, practice and stipends. Courses in engineering and education are blended over three years and include research-based content courses. STEEP graduates also learn to teach coding and engineering design, addressing NGSS and workforce needs. Engineers who are career-changers or graduates of other universities can enroll directly in the MAT program and Noyce Fellowships. Read More Average Ratings 0
